Many people who purchase a "transition" set for their child end up purchasing a better set of bedroom furniture when their child gets older. Or, parents may hand down the set to a younger sibling and then purchase a newer, more "grown up" set for the older child. Regardless, at some point you will probably look to purchase one of the more expensive bedroom packages that are available. These sets are made of quality materials and should last your child for many, many years. In fact, your child may still be using one of the bed sets in their first apartment after college.
At the same time, many owners of bedroom sets often succeed in finding deals through alternative furniture outlets, such as the classified ads or garage sales. Since these are usually from people looking to get rid of their belongings as quickly as possible, you can often negotiate a price for as low as you can afford. When purchasing bed sets from these places, however, it is best to check the quality of the frames for cracks, the mattress for bed bugs, and any other pieces for wear and tear so that you can pay accordingly.
